The Takila Guru Statue in the Lhuentse district of eastern Bhutan is one of the tallest statues in the world, depicting Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) at a height of 51 meters (169 feet). Completed in 2019, it sits atop a hill overlooking the remote Lhuentse Valley, the ancestral home of Bhutan's royal family. The statue houses 125,000 smaller Guru Rinpoche statues within its interior, along with meditation halls and prayer rooms. The project was conceived to bring peace, prosperity, and spiritual blessings to Bhutan and the wider world.
