About This Sacred Site
Bagan in central Myanmar is one of the world's greatest archaeological sites, featuring over 2,000 surviving Buddhist temples, pagodas, and monasteries spread across a 104-square-kilometer plain. Between the 11th and 13th centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist temples were constructed here during the Pagan Kingdom.
