About This Sacred Site
The Vakil Mosque in Shiraz was built between 1751 and 1773 during the Zand dynasty by Karim Khan, the founder of the dynasty. The prayer hall features 48 monolithic pillars carved in spiraling patterns and a stunning two-iwan design. The mosque is famous for its elaborate floral tile decorations in shades of blue, pink, and green. It is part of a larger complex that includes the Vakil Bazaar and Vakil Bath, forming the commercial and spiritual heart of old Shiraz.
